Could be a scam or it could be real. Your best option is to contact centrelink on the number on forms which they send out and ask. Don’t go through any link or number which is provided in the message either.

 No scam

Isn't it sad though that we just can't trust these things anymore. We have to question almost every call, text or email we get :(

Better ring them and find out what is happening. Ring them on their phone number that you find in the phone book, in case it is a scam. Do not phone back on any number provided with that text.
Scammers are very inventive.
They will pretend to be any govt agency that they think you will obey when they demand money.

The texts have nothing to do with demanding money, they are simply telling people they are exempt from job provider appointments for a set amount of time

I got the texts, my gov inboxes and emails. My job provider told be today that my job provider appointments are voluntary for 6 weeks because of the bush fires.
As it is so difficult to pick and chose who would be affected, some may be stuck away from home etc the whole of Australia has been put on voluntary job provider appointments.
Call your job provider to confirm.

You may get these texts even if you are not receiving payments if your phone is in an affected area.

 Thanks
