Is this the one for 6500? Or approx that? We are currently shopping for a new fridge too- hubby nearly died when he seen the price. As for OP we are looking at samsung top mount 533L one for just over 1000. It has all the led lights and stuff. I want a water dispenser one but our little ones will probably abuse it lol. We cant fit french doors on our space unless its the really narrow one.

Hi op i just got my fridge yesterday. Went with a top mount kelvinator. We were told bottom mounts (freezer at bottom) defies gravity and the whole fridge needs to work harder to push cold air from freezer up to the fridge. So top mount (freezer above fridge) is way better for power as rhe cool air flows down. The man also said that he has heaps of people return complaining about the seals in the fridges with water dispensers. They are prone to leaking and often need replacing. He strongly advised us to get the cheaper top mount rather than buy a more pricey one with water dispenser. And like he said 'he would love to sell us the big expensive banger that i wanted' but realistically he is sick of customers being unhappy and having to wait for parts etc. He said avoid samsung fridges and washing machines as they often have recalls and he no longer sells them due to unhappy customers.

I just have a basic 2 door, upright kelvinator. Brought it when I was 18 and first moved out of home and I'm currently 23. My only problem is it has glass shelves so I have to wait for food to cool down completely before I can put it in the fridge or risk a cracked shelf. We are a family of 4 and there is heaps of space for everything in there

True, but I do like that the glass shelves mean I can see what's in the fridge more easily and don't lose track of stuff that needs using :)

Don't they all have glass shelves now?

I have no idea. Heaps of them were plastic when I was looking, but I thought the glass ones were pretty lol. But I'd say it's probably changed in the last 5 yrs.

We just bought a westinghouse top mount thing. It's pretty cool. It has LED lights inside. We're a family of 5 and the only space issue we have is that the vegetable crisper isn't large enough for us. But the rest of the fridge is huge. If you're renting, try and avoid the fridges with water dispensers. Those have to be plumbed in and most rentals don't have the appropriate tap spaces. Also, don't be tempted by a cheap GVA (or whatever that brand is) fridge. We had ours for 18 months before it suddenly stopped working. The repair guys said since it was outside warranty, it'd cost about $400-$500 to fix, and it would be a couple of weeks before the parts came in. For that price (plus the cost of running an esky or living day by day while we waited) we decided to just buy a new fridge.

My water dispenser doesn't have to be plumbed, just has a tank in the door that gets refilled.

I had one that had a tank when in was with my ex, one day I went to refill the tank and I pulled it out and it smashed into my nose then smashed and broke on the floor 😂

Oh no! That's why I just use a jug to fill the tank up lol.

Yup that was the last time I did it that way.... bought myself a jug after that.

We have a 410ltr fisher & Paykel upside down. Totally love it and have had it for 9 years and no problems. Most of our friends have fancy fridges with water, ice etc. but im happy with ours and figure there is less to go wrong!

My fridge cost $8,450

OP i dont want your fridge then thanks!

We have a Westinghouse side by side. Love it! Westinghouse make good fridges. My brother sells white goods and says the brand to avoid is Samsung.

I just have a plain Jane hisense. I've had it 12 months and so far so good. The fridge I had before this was NEC with water dispenser and I hated it. The inside rubber bits became mouldy so it was unusable. The shelves and door shelves were made from not very durable plastic which would crack easily.

It's a bit excessive and we don't use it that much, we got that one because the model below it ( one we wanted) was going to be out of stock for ages so they sold us that model at the cheaper price.
