I feel like there is no meaning anymore.

Answered 5 years ago

No one cares and maybe they just don't have time to. Are we too busy making sure we are seen being 'busy'? Social media is making us anti social beings.
I wish everyone would disconnect so we can all reconnect. Am I too late? I miss the neighborhood.

Where I live it's a bit of a community, people definitely try to out do others in social media, but I have noticed it's starting to go the other way now. Some people still post every aspect of their lives on Facebook, but a lot are posting less or getting rid of Facebook. I don't follow anyone except for a few friends who live interstate, that I don't want to lose touch with. Social media is changing.

Electronic devices are totally a trap. People get their noses buried in them and totally ignore everyone. Parents ignore their children. Children ignore other children. And everyone is trying to outdo everyone else they know via Facebook posts, instead of actually interacting socially. Its toxic, as it has encouraged a "me" focus.
You used to see people chatting on the train; now you could hear a pin drop, as everyone has their noses buried in their devices.
I hate it, and I feel society is falling apart. No wonder loneliness is the fastest growing mental health problem across the world.

I have noticed that physical community seems to be less, but everyone is trying to outdo the next person on social media. Looks are important
