Yes, I get annoyed at people who don't put their rubbish in the correct bin or complain about sorting their rubbish.

Scraps aside, pizza boxes can't go in because of the oil from the food.

Are pizza boxes recyclable? To a degree, pizza boxes are recyclable but they may impose a problem because of contamination issues. Too much grease and oil can effect the quality of the pulped cardboard. This could ruin a batch of potentially reusable paper

Our council specifically campaigned to tell us to put our pizza boxes in the recycling...

If they are too greasy they won't be recycled. Best to put them your organics bin or compost

If your pizza boxes are too greasy, I'd be going somewhere else to get pizza.

The places we get pizza normally have a square of ridged cardboard under the pizza. I put that square in the bin and box goes recycling. We usually get pizza capers though and they are not greasy.

What’s the point when the recycling goes in the same place as landfill????

A lot of recycling most certainly does end up in landfill. One contaminated truck load will mean the whole lot goes into landfill. Some councils who are lazy send it to landfill. When there is more recycling than can be managed, guess where does the surplus goe.... landfill. So it’s important to minimise all waste be it that meant for landfill or that which is meant for the recycle bin.

Why wouldn't a cigarette packet go in the recycling? Isn't it just a cardboard box? I don't smoke, so it's not an issue for me, just wondering where your info is coming from.

Empty Packs Are Recyclable. Cigarette packs are paperboard and can be recycled with other paper products. Just make sure the outer plastic and inner foil packaging has been removed first.
