Does anyone else make their kids friends shower at a sleepover?

Answered 2 years ago

My son has 2 friends who regularly sleep over, the problem is these kids rarely shower at home and they smell really bad ….. it’s that smell that homeless on the street have which is different than just regular bio. They don’t like having showers even though I’ve offered but everything they sit on stinks and they basically litter and throw anything they eat around the yard no matter how many times I tell them not to do that (they’re 9 and 10 so should know better) problem is there his only friends but I’m a seriously just thinking about no more sleep overs at all over the holidays, there’s zero respect for my house mo matter how many times I tell them. They eat amd even throw unwanted food on the floor or bed?!?! Just needed to vent I guess.

No I don’t make other kids shower at my house, especially when they’re that young. They might feel really awkward getting naked and showering at someone else’s house. And what if their parents accuse you of something awful. But, I also wouldn’t have rude stinky kids sleep over so just say no to sleepovers.

My kids aren't old enough to be doing sleepovers, but yeah I wouldn't be putting up with that. Have you mentioned it to the parents? (The food messiness, probably not the smell). Does your son sleep over at their place at all?

He does but very rarely, they mainly come to my place because I’m not to keen on my son staying at other people’s houses too much, I think I may just eliminate the sleepovers completely to lessen my stress lol

Yeah I think it will be easiest if you just have a no sleepover rule 🙂

We aren’t at the sleepover stage yet but my kids shower every night. Last year we looked after my partners younger brothers (9 and 7 years old) for 5 days and they usually don’t shower every night. Usually only every second or third night for some reason. When they were at our place they showered nightly. It was a part of our routine and they just followed that.

Unless they have eczema or some other skin condition I think kids should be having showers every night night. We live in a hot area so we get sweaty, then combine that with playing outside and getting dirty. They should be showering every day, it’s basic hygiene.
