Flu jab doesn’t protect you from the coid

No one is saying it does

No one thinks it does. It protects you from the most common strains of influenza, which is much different and more severe than a cold.

No. But having the Flu compromises your health so if you were to get covid at the same time, you could very well end up in ICU

At lot of hospitals offer it free here in Victoria (Melbourne, Australia).
The Northern hospital in Epping will open a free flu shot in the main entrance in coming weeks.
They also have a walk up fever clinic for Coronavris testing, just follow the arrow signs.

Never had the flu shot and never had the flu either.
I'll just keep up with my vitamin c, daily sunshine and exercise and I'm not worried about the flu at all. Can't even remember the last time either my kids or I were sick with even as much as a cold. I won't get a covid19 shot either if there ever is one either.

I need to know more... do you live remotely? Why are you not getting sick? Even a cold?? Please tell me more

Not remote, about a 20 min drive from Perth city centre.
Daily vitamin C, vit B12, flaxseed oil, plus other vitamins I take here and there but not daily, lots of water (we don't drink tap water - only bottled water). Daily walks in the sunlight for at least an hour every day and we don't use sunscreen.
My husband on the other hand doesn't beleive in vitamins and he's not a fan of exercise or sunlight and spends his days indoors in an office and every year without fail he gets sick many times for weeks at a time and gets so badly knocked down, but the kids and I NEVER catch it from him.
In fact my husband was recently so sick he got tested for covid 19 - test came back negative, but the kids and I didn't even have a sniffle despite him being home from work for 3 weeks and being around us all daily.
I don't even remember what it's like to be sick. I know I did get sick here and there as a child but as an adult I just don't get sick. Even without any flu shots.

Sunlight and vitamins will not protect you from a virus.

^ why not? They help your immune system stay strong and be able to fight it off

^healthy people Can still get it. Naive to think sunlight and vitamins are enough.

My kids and I don’t get the shots due to me having the worst reaction to it the one time I did. When or if the y develop a vaccine for Covid, I’m not 100% if I wanna get that either. I fear eveythjng is being driven by fear right now.

Im a vaccine lover, but i kinda agree with you about the Covid vaccine, im not sure i want it if they find one, worried it will be released too early without proper trials and testing and also dont like the ‘ick’ factor, having a zootonic (is that the word?) disease, even in vaccine form, in my body freaks me out. And yeah i know, dying from covid is a much more terrible thing, but im
Just say’n.

I have always gotten one, and the one year I didn't, I ended up getting influenza. It was 2 weeks in bed barely moving. It's been 12 years since that time I missed it. Never again.

My family and I will get the vaccine, as we do every year. Every extra bit of protection is helpful, so while we'll be practicing physical distancing and good hygiene sometimes sh!t happens 🤷‍♀️ I'd rather have the extra level of protection!

I get one every year because I have an autoimmune disease

ANSWER

I get it each year for free as I am high risk of dying if I get it.

Actually I just discussed this with my husband, that I felt given how much more I know about the impact on others in society, that I would and take my kids too. I know influenza deaths are much higher than people imagine but am one of those people who fight illness without painkillers(generally), and same for my kids generally.. but I feel a little differently now. I hear it is free after Easter too? But could be wrong..

Not sure if it’s free for everyone, I’ve been avoiding g the news so might have missed it. But it’s always free for certain groups, pregnant women, elderly, those with chronic illness etc.

I’ll be getting it, along with the rest of my family. I have it every year, except last year I missed out. Last year I was actually booked in to have it but had to cancel the appointment because I was too sick to get it. Ended up in hospital and it was confirmed I had influenza. It’s the second time I’ve had the flu, 1st time was 15 years ago and again I was at the doctor and asked about the vaccine, but was told it was too late in the season to get it. Bam, back to doctors a few weeks later with confirmed influenza.

I'm getting it for the first this year but I was going to anyway as I got the flu last year and was bedridden for 10 days.. not risking that again getting my family done as well.

I am going to. I was going to already. We have a small baby now and I’m so scared of her catching anything that it’s just going to be one of those things we all will get done.

My whole family got the jab last week. It was $15 each. Thought it better than getting flu and worrying you have covid 19
