Sociologists say there is an emerging problem of many parents neglecting their kids to the extent that they are growing up poorly socialised, lacking interpersonal skills. Parents are the primary teachers of interpersonal skills, apparently.

Sounds like those that are offended and outraged by the cartoon have a guilty conscience!

I am a bit biased against phones and Instagram but it sounds great to being light to behaviour. I had an alcoholic patent and I could never understand as a child why those chose drink over spending time with me. They would spend time with me but would be drink and not quite present. I sometimes wonder if kids when grown up, will wonder why parents chose their phones over being present with them the same way. In my mind it's an addiction that no one really is acknowledging, cartoons can bring awareness.

It's an opinion, an unpopular one but an opinion all the same. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And frankly, it is true of some. I haven't seen the cartoon in question but is it possible he was just trying to point out how time consuming phones and social media can be and who is being affected?
