Bladder leakage after pregnancy

Answered 4 years ago

So I suffer stress incontinence after having my second child, it's been almost 18months and I have seen no improvement, Its just enough to annoy me if I sneeze or squat down etc bit not enough to make me need to change or shower. Is this considered not normal and how much would you consider to much and medical treatment is required?

I agree with other poster; it’s common but not normal. No amount of leakage is normal. And I’ve been through ‘treatment’ it’s pretty simple and easy actually. Nothing to be afraid of, no invasive tests. Simple things like measuring how much urine you can pass(by measuring) emptying your bladder and then an ultrasound to check if you are able to completely empty, and then they show you how to do proper exercises to strengthen. (Sometimes with Gloved fingers inserted to ensure you are doing it correctly ) but never fear it. It’s all helpful and worthwhile and easily fixed. Start at gp and get a referral for an Incontinence physio at a hospital where it won’t cost anything

I'm inclined to say leakage may be common, but is not normal. You should see a gp to discuss your options and help put your mind at ease. Also I can recommend Modibodi undies if you want some undies that will absorb the leakage, if that makes it less annoying.

Go and see your GP babe. You made need a referral to a urologist. A little leakage is normal but you shouldn't need to be showering after. Good luck x
