Free flu shots in WA?

Answered 4 years ago

Looking through the post about free flu shots it seems people from the eastern states get free flu shots. I’m in WA and have always had to pay. Only the elderly, young kids and sick people get it for free. Anyone from WA who doesn’t fall into those categories yet gets it for free?

Im in WA, all primary school kids are getting it free this year, as well as those you listed above. So my 8 yr old, 4 yr old and myself get it free (im asthmatic), my 16 year old also gets it free at out local doctors surgery, simply because she holds a medicare card.

We get it every year and i have never paid for it, even before the new rules came in this year.

In previous years i just get a text from our doctors surgery saying ‘free flu vaccine for all medicare card holders, book now’

Do you mean Medicare or healthcare card? Because I only have Medicare and have never received a text and never got it for free. I go to bulk billing doctor every year and they’ve always charged me and my three kids.

Medicare, we dont have a health care card, our surgery is in Northbridge, always free for Medicare card holders. Im surprised to see so many people in WA having trouble getting a free flu vaccine, when we always have.

I got my kids done today and as my youngest 11 and in primary school he was free, but my year 7 child I paid $15 for. Last year I paid for him too so this must be new thing. Glad they have it. They should encourage vaccination
