C day tomorrow for my son - so nervous for him! :'(

Answered 3 years ago

No negative judgement please, but my son is booked in for his circumcision procedure tomorrow. I have been back and forth about wanting this for bub, but my husband really wants it done. Luckily he is going with me tomorrow, I don't think I could possibly take him alone. I just hate the thought of bubs being in pain, and am worried about caring for it afterwards.
Has anyone else been through this with their son? How did you go with it all? Do you have any reassurance or advice for this nervous mum?

If you weren't doing it you wouldn't feel any of these things. You feel icky for a reason. Leave his peen alone.

My little guy was circumcised four weeks ago. He was two weeks when he got it done. He cried a little at the time, but it was all over so quickly and he was fine soon afterwards, it really didn't seem to bother him. His willy has since healed so well and personally I think it looks better now with it done.

If I remember from my own boys, it does not look very nice for the first few days, (if anything, it looks worse before it gets better), but then it started to heal really nicely after a week, and look perfect after the second week. It won't take long, and I'm sure you won't regret it! xx

Update:
So we had it done this arvo. I couldn't bring myself to go in with bub, but my husband did and watched the procedure. He said that the doctor did the whole thing in under five minutes and bub handled it really well. Since we got home, bub has been sleeping lots, but I have just changed him and when I saw the dressing I just burst into tears! It's been an emotional day. I just hope I can get through this week. :-(

My son was done a few years ago. I put Vaseline on the inside of his nappy, so he wouldn't get 'stuck' to it.

I'm sure all will be fine. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of boys and men are circumcised around the world each year.
What method is he having?

Thanks for that reassurance and perspective. X
The doctor we're going to does the traditional cut method.

You should probably ask your doctor, but I have read that it should only take a few weeks.
