Stuck in the middle

Answered 4 years ago

Today - and many, many others - my Mum and sister have been both trying to drag me into a minor disagreement they are having. Both have valid points but I don't want to get involved.

My problem is that I really struggle to not worry about it. I am a chronic peacemaker and "fixer" and hate people I care about disagreeing. How do I stop obsessing about other people's feelings and just let them sort it out?

I suspect focusing on others is your way of distracting from your own unhappiness/anxiety. You focus on you

I suspect you’re assuming she has anxiety and isn’t happy. You don’t know her so stop trying to be her psychologist.

No this is my observation from myself and a lot of people I know, I’m free to give my advice but if you’re just here to chime in whether it passes your standards then I think you’re just a miserable cow who is unhappy too.

Seemly everybody is unhappy according to you. You are doing something called PROJECTING.

I’m not a miserable unhappy cow. I’m happy and loving life. You’re assuming there’s something wrong with her. She didn’t need to hear that.

It isn’t easy but you have to change your mindset.
And how you do that is through practice. Tell your mum and your sister and everyone else trying to drag you into this spat that you do not wish to get involved. It’s between them and nothing to do with you.

So if that's how you feel then just tell them that and then leave and go do something you enjoy.

^ I agree. The other person needs to read the post properly before casting judgement
