How do I leave my husband? I feel like I don't have a reason?

Answered 3 years ago

I want to leave my husband, I think? Together 15yrs. I feel like we've grown in different directions. A lot of things he does irritate me. He has a bad view on mental health, is lazy, doesn't work etc. We don't fight because I always back down - I don't like fighting or confronting him because he has a need to always be right and can never see anyone else point of view. I'm fairly sure I've decided to leave him but I feel like I don't have a "proper" reason. Please tell me there are others who've been there, How'd you handle it? How'd he take it?
On his side I think it's going to come from nowhere, surprise him! His own dad and a lot of friends around us have been saying I should leave him for a long time. I'm so confused

Trust your gut. Maybe you just need a separation so you can gather your thoughts. My councillor said to me you don’t need a reason to leave a marriage. I didn’t have the guts to follow through and ended up in a worse situation. I would talk to him and ask if he has had similar thoughts then try marriage councelling then seperate if need be.

I am in the same situation. Problem is we have two kids under 6. We brought up couples therapy a few months ago but with lockdown and schedules, we haven't organised it. I have done a lot of therapy and I want to leave because I feel held back in this relationship and they're just oblivious and can't step up for change. So I get it if you don't feel like therapy , because it's like .. why bother? Just so that they can hear it from the professional that we are better off without them right? We already know the answer and we feel we just need to justify to them..

As long as you genuinely tell him how you feel you should be fine, be honest :)
