Answered 4 years ago

I was told if client can make own decisions we can’t say no
I have a Female aged 50 and client that wants to wear bra with no top in public and last night wanted to go to city at 8pm instead of original plan to go out for tea
How do you deal with change of plan and driving to town at 8pm and you were tired to drive

If it’s your job then you have to deal with it. If a person with a disability is of sound mind, then whether or not you agree with their decisions is irrelevant.

Would you let them humiliate themselves only wearing a bra ?

You can explain why it’s not a good idea. But surely she has some autonomy?

When I worked as a carer we had a care plan and had to call the office and get permission to do things that didn't match the plan. Eg. If we were there to do cleaning, we couldn't take them shopping without getting approved first. There is usually a case manager you can talk to, they should be able to tell the client why she can't go out at 8pm (because then the shift won't finish on time). As for clothing, I guess it's tough luck, you can't force them to wear something. You can always say you'll take a top out with you in case she gets cold (or a security guard tells her to cover up).
