We do pocket money for jobs around the house. One job is keeping their bedrooms clean. My boys are both saving towards a really wanted shared toy. They do lots of little jobs around the house as well like: setting the table, vacuuming, wiping surfaces, emptying bins etc

When they get the shared toy...? Do they continue to do all that?

I don’t give pocket money for little chores around the house. They should be doing little chores anyway. They’ll just learn that if they're not getting paid, they won’t do the chores.

I tell them to go clean up their room. And they do. They have never not had the option. The youngest might grumble about it on his way but it gets done.

If you discipline and enforce rules from a young age you wouldn’t be asking this stupid question.
Either they do it or it’s no iPad, after 1 warning if it’s still not done I get the wooden spoon and give 1 smack, after the first few times they take you seriously enough to listen most of the time.

I use the family link app to turn off my children's tablets and have a code on the TV.

4&7 year olds - Room/playroom/anything they dump anywhere in the house. 'Pick it up or it goes in the bin & you know how much mummy loves throwing stuff out.' watch them run. I'd do it though.

Best teenager one I saw my friend use - 'its ok, I know you didn't feel like cleaning up dinner last night. You know, I don't feel like driving you to your friend's house this morning anymore.' She sat down with a coffee instead. The look on her daughter's face was priceless!

Gosh that is a good one!! We have the same approach with our young ones. I am definitely one to add at the mall “Why should I buy new lego when I see that you dont’ care for your lego at home- heads and little pieces left all over the place”

Their room rarely gets messy as they have a playroom
When they won’t pick it up I threaten what ever I pick up I throw out.
Only had to throw 1 basket of toys out years ago and I rarely have a problem since

By not letting them be he parent. You clean your room or no technology, toys start to go etc. My girls are 9&6 and they both clean their rooms and make their beds every morning.

Tell them. Simple. You are the parent.
If your kids are disrespecting you over something so medial as cleaning their room then you need to make some serious changes. All kids make a scene over cleaning their room but you need to be firm as a parent and not take their shit. Clean your room, or face consequences. Simple. Take away their ipads, ipods, laptops, playstations etc. Change the wifi password, whatever. Clean your fucken room and you get your privileges back.
