Is anyone else feeling a bit down after Christmas?

Answered 4 years ago

I had a perfectly nice Christmas (there were a few family tensions, but nothing out of the ordinary). But post Christmas I’m just feeling a bit sad and unmotivated...-anyone else?

I'm awesome. Just finished enduring SIL & her family where I had a full day of being told how wonderful their jobs are, how much they earn & how fantastic their life is. Not once were we asked how we are. Now they'll ignore us for another 2 years. Thankfully.

Babe i have family like that and i often wonder if its worth it. We're actually thinking of breaking our usual tradition and going away instead. Its Christmas for us too and for once we'd like to enjoy it

She doesn't include us at Christmas. I'm fine with that. Only have to endure it every 2 years or so. But going away is looking very attractive!!

Have a brother like that. Only see him every second Christmas and he barely talks to me in between boasting. My life may be shit but it's not catchy for Pete's sake. Family.... I go from being incredible hurt to feeling nothing.

Time between Christmas and New Years is lost in space, I don’t even know what day it is.

Yep I always feel like that, the hype to Xmas is soo much!! End of school year, gifts for all, huge Xmas day with kids etc and afterward all the hype seems to have vanished and all I’m left with is the clean up etc. this year I’m particularly sick and feeling awful and still left with the house clean up which is 10x as no one cleans out the old toys before the new ones come in. I actually feel a bit depressed from it all
Hugs to everyone else & op feeling the same. Hopefully things pick for us all soon

Get everyone cleaning!
My house is an open house for all. There are presents, fresh food and drinks and desserts.. anything and everything you could want but you better believe problem clean up after themselves! If I’m up at 5.30 cooking 3 different types of meat, putting seafood on ice and making pitchers of cosmos and margaritas, my guests can (& do) take their plates to the sink, rinse and stack in the dishwasher!

Lol yes total self pity, did you neglect to see how I’m unwell? Feeling depressed as! Thanks for your response though 😉
Thanks to the other responders. Yep Xmas has died down and all done but it’s all the kids stuff that they can’t put away. With two children with asd it’s a real work In progress to trick them into tidying their own stuff away. Don’t even bother commenting if you think asd isnt real. Cos if you meet my kids you’ll know straight away they’re different

Yes, I feel the same. It happens to me every year. I guess I feel a bit “lost”. It is also very hot here and our air conditioner is broken 🙁
