I just read something that said it's a control thing. Apparently we associate loo paper with cleaning up & being clean. Humans sure are strange!

There is an idea that toilet paper is made in China and will be banned from being imported to Australia. However most toilet paper is manufactured here in Australia so it isn't a problem.

I seriously don't get it either. It's not like Corona gives you violent diarrhoea. I understand if you get quarantined but I could think of 100 other items I'd prefer to stockpile other than TP

One of the symptoms of Corona Virus is diarrhea. Also, given the quarantine rules I think the elderly were panicking and started buying up their supplies (most old folks are unsure of how to order their groceries online) just in case. Which, unfortunately, had a snowball effect and now an army of over reactors have stepped up to follow suit.
Also, I agree that other things would be better in the prep for infection. For me personally, if I was going to stockpile anything, I'd start at the cleaning supplies and hydrolyte.

People are panicking because everybody is talking about a shortage in paper products and are therefore rushing out to snare theirs. Alot of it is from hearsay
