Oh so many!! Possum Magic by Mem Fox, the Wombat series by Jackie French, Piranhas don't eat bananas by Aaron Blabey, If you can, go to a book store (especially if there's a children's bookstore nearby) and browse. Or go to your nearest public library and ask for recommendations from the children's librarian if there's one. Steer clear of pop up books until they're older - the books are gorgeous but (speaking as a librarian) they get wrecked very easily! And better still, once you've bought the books, volunteer to read to the kids :)

Note to SAHM : Any chance of you organising a list from Mums (and Grandmas, and teachers) on here of the all time classic book titles that kids have loved over the years. Probably age birth to 5 years, as if kids learn to love books during those years they are often set for life.
Many of those teach kindness, decency, friendship, appreciation of differences, general good morality in western culture (some books may come from other cultures by the way).
Many have rhyming language, simple nice stories, which little kids love, and find very easy to read themselves after a while.
