Coles and woollies open Xmas day and New Year’s Day

Speaking as someone who actually works at McDonald’s; I think it’s great some stores stay open. Some people don’t have friends or family to go and see on Christmas and some people don’t celebrate Christmas for cultural/religious or family reasons.
Nobody is forced to work on Christmas Day. The shifts are available and people put their names down and nominate themselves. The shifts are still the minimum of 3 hours and there are penalty rates for those who do work.

If you don’t agree with stores being open then don’t go there on Christmas Day. It’s as simple as that 🤷‍♀️

I want to know why maccas doesn't have a xmas burger? Turkey, camembert and cranberry sauce... ....maybe some rocket...why maccas why? I've been talking about this for 20 years, missed opportunity.

I'm a bit divided on this one. I was one of the people saying Maccas didn't need to be open. But some many workers have said they are glad to have a Christmas Day shift, as it's good money that they need. So as long as the ones that are working are the ones that actually want to be there, then all good.
besides, all the public service /emergency workers need to get their meals from somewhere 🤷‍♀️
