Mining relationship

Answered 1 month ago

For those who have a partner in the mining industry. How do you cope while you’re home alone for that week while they’re away at work? I’ve been dealing with it for 2 years and now I’m starting to struggle. I’ve mentioned it to him that I do miss him and I find it hard to be home while he isn’t there but he keeps saying that he’s doing it for the money. Is it really worth it?

I was a miners wife (still married). Have gone trough all the scenarios lived in a mining town 3 rotating shifts day night afternoon, 12 hr shifts day/night 2 yrs straight nights , 4 on/4 off , 7 on/7 off. Moved to bigger town did find it difficult at first. Found did all the things i wanted or needed to do while he was away but when he was home my attention was directed to him. He then retired and i completely lost my identity for a few years. Surround yourself with family and good friends. Join groups eg craft gyms find what you like to do

Are you prepared to work more hours to make up for the loss of income? One week away is nothing. Keep your self busy and time will fly.

I’m on week 5 and another 3 to go. I’m not insulting your struggle although I envy you & would love one on one off.
