Do you think your shopping habits will change after all this ??

Answered 4 years ago

I live close to shops so pop down whenever I run out of something. I think now I’ll keep 2 packets of some things on hand at all times incase something like this virus happens again.

Not at all. I've always wiped down the trolley handles anyway and I've also only ever bought what I need. (Except once - I did buy an extra 32 pack of loo roll just in case)

Only that I would buy just what I need and nothing more

I have always kept a really well stocked pantry and freezer and I am so bloody glad that I did. I haven't bought toiletries, cleaning supplies, pasta etc since all before this craziness started.

I always have had pasta, like at least 15 packets in my cupboard at a time. I'll definitely keep that up after the shelves had none for a good month 😂

My husband always use to laugh and pay me out about my rice, pasta, toilet paper and deodorant stock...not anymore🤣

Well it's such an effort to go into a shop now because I have kids and a baby, so I've been driving 20 minute drive to a local fruit vege road side stall and buying fresh stuff there for cheap. That way I can grab my veggies while the kids sit in the car and watch me and I can get back in the car and pay using bank transfer, giving us yummy healthy affordable veg and giving my car a run seeing as it doesn't get used the rest of theweek or fortnight. I don't live in a big city though, (live in regional WA) but if I did it probably wouldn't be feasible to drive out to a farming area to do this.
We've also practically stopped eating takeout in favor for home cooked.
A lot of our life was just convenience. Prepackaged and ready made. So hopefully this will be a change we keep up long term

I plan on staying in isolation well after they announce we don’t have to.
It’s changed the way I view a lot of things.
I have been buying everything possible online the last few weeks, can not get groceries delivered at the moment.
When I can buy woolies online again I’ll stock pile dry goods, purchase a lamb and half of beast from the butcher and only shop for fruit vege , milk, eggs and bread from my local market.
I’ve already ordered a new freezer so will do the butcher when that arrives.
I’ve realised how easy it is to cook at home and how much money I Was spending eating out, I have also lost weight, huge bonus!

The extra exercise taking the kids for bike rides has helped me heaps too, I’m also considering working a lot less hours in the future. Life’s precious, I want to spend more time with my crazy kids!

I'll make more effort to shop locally even if it costs a bit more

No I don’ t thank they will in most respects, BUT i think I will be doing a few less kids activities.. spending time with my kids has changed my view on that...all that rushing around is not so attractive anymore. I’ll be sad when it is over, I’ve never seen so many people out in the afternoons..usually in our suburb(quite close to Perth city) we are the only family hanging out at the big oval for an evening walk... I feel like I’ve gone back 20years and see people riding bikes and kids playing ball exercises.. everyone is social distancing but going outside instead of hiding inside

It definitely will. Yelling out social distancing is now part of my weekly shop and I’m not stopping that until the day I die. When my grandkids ask me why I’m going to stare off into the distance while muttering rona over and over.

I’ve always wiped down the trolley so that isn’t a strange thing. And hand sanitiser has always been in my bag. But I’ll be using it more often and distancing as much as possible . I’ll also always make sure I never run low of things like toilet paper, soap, hand sanitiser and non perishable foods .

I've always shopped for extras (not hoarding though), like when the half price specials are on. I've only run short of a few things.
