ANOTHER question regarding Centrelink... this time including child care

Answered 4 years ago

Hello, if I receive FTB A & B, does that mean I am entitled to X amount of hours childcare for free/heavily credited for?
Before you say "omg Linda, go ask them" I tried checking the website and I don't understand their gobbledygook.
I just need to know!

As others have said, FTB has nothing to do with CCS. What percentage of debate you're entitled to and eligible hours depend on an activity test and income.

I think it's all changed now, and child care is based on the work hours/volunteering/study of the adult doing the least amount.
Which annoys me because I work 40 but my husband can work 15 hours one week and 50 the next, so I don't know how it's going to work out, but I just want daycare to be based on at least my work hours.

You need to be volunteering, working, studying, looking for work, or setting up/running your own business. If looking for work keep a log & copies of all activity/applications. They say they can audit you & require proof but when I asked what that was I got a 'we don't know' response.

There are some exceptions like having a disabled child etc.

FTB is not a criteria. You have to be doing an activity.

Take a look at the links here, particularly the activity levels.

Your childcare rebate and eligible hours depend on your activity test and your income.

Yeah it's like they're speaking another language. Pretty sure it's designed that way (the whole system) to put you off partaking. I'm just starting on one day, praying for a good outcome. If we can afford more I'll do one more day if not we'll make a decision from there. We have a limited income.
