Yes there’s a difference. Sex is about gratification. A means that an ends and you don’t need to feel anything for the person you’re doing it with. Lovemaking is a physical and emotional connection through sex and with someone you love or care for very deeply.

You can also have gratuitous sex with someone you love. Sometimes sex is just about release and nothing more.
