Food. You can try to gain my interest in your cause until the cows come home but i only respond to food. Chocolate with roasted almonds springs to mind. Yum.

Get on alibaba and bulk buy UV Beads. Make them into wrist bands/bracelets. Google them, they're awesome for kids.

Cadbury do those chocolate bar fundraiser boxes, they're popular too.
The kids in my town pack bags/trollies at our local woolies and help customers take their groceries to their cars for a few gold coins each. Gets the kids out interacting with community members and also raises awareness that your troup is in the local area and you might attract a few members
