What’s it like being a midwife?

I’ve wanted to go back to study to do this for a while. Please share the good, bad and the ugly parts of the job- I want to make an informed decision. I am currently an enrolled nurse. Thanks!

Terrible hours

I know right, why can’t mothers only go into labor and give birth between 9 am and 2 pm. So inconsiderate.

My sister in law is a midwife and absolutely loves it. She doesn’t shut up about it. She is very proud of herself when she detects a baby in distress and is able to fix the problem. She loves helping the mums. She likes being able to offer support to mums who aren’t getting support elsewhere. She has helped calm young mums when their partners are being jerks. She doesn’t like shift work but loves her job.
