Am I the only one who notices that loyalty is very rare thing these days?

In friends, lovers even family - everyone is only thinking of themselves. Where are the old fashion values? Do people teach them?

There's always good & bad. I won't hurt anyone to be selfish, but my loyalty has been eroded by other people's selfishness. It's been destroyed by family who don't care who they hurt to get their way or friends who call me when they need support or to have a whinge, but call others to have fun & exclude me. So now I'm only loyal to my DH & kids.

OP of above comment here.... Case in point...just got the expected cancellation message for this afternoon with lame excuses - including partying all weekend with other friends so is too tired. Hence why I don't 'loyally' keep my afternoon open anymore!! Can't even be bothered replying. Guarantee same thing will happen for our next scheduled meetup. If anyone knows where to find loyal, respectful friends I'm listening! They seem like Unicorns to me!!

I've been experiencing the opposite lately. Incredible generosity and thoughtfulness by people I thought didn't like me all that much.
To me, that's loyalty. I don't partake in gossip, unless it's to say something nice about someone (eg, have you seen Gina's new man? They're so cute together!; or the new lady at school makes the best cappuccinos, she's really good), so loyalty in the face of scrutiny is not something I've had to deal with. Who knows, maybe my friends are actually backstabbing bitches. But I'm happy to not be part of that lifestyle.
