WA is the only state keeping playgrounds closed until mid June. Does this make sense to you?

My biggest issue is how Clive Palmer thinks he can enter WA on his private plane, and says he'll take Mcgowan to court because his money didn't let him get his own way.
Clearly thinks there's rules for everyone else and he's above them!

Are your schools open?
If so, yes this is odd.

It isn’t really. The reason playgrounds are closed isn’t because of the kids. It’s the parents that congregate in groups around them that present the issue.

McGowen said it's because they're difficult to keep sanitised

Well yes, but whats the difference between school drop off/pickup and 100+ kids playing at lunchtime on play equipment and sporting equipment?

REPLY

^ The difference is you are standing at the gate for a few minutes tops at drop off and pick up. At a play ground you’re in a group with your mummy friends for 30+ minutes.

My local private school won’t even let parents out of their cars. The kids have to walk to their parents. If you have a young child that needs walking to the gate, you are not allowed to park on school grounds. You have to park at neighbouring streets and walk to the gate then leave immediately. WA. The playgrounds being shut is all about the groups of adults that will be hanging around together for quite some time.

Yes I'm in WA and I don't get why playgrounds are closed. The virus can't live on the equipment.
I'm ok to take my kids to the shopping centre with hundreds of other people around, both other people and my kids can touch whatever they like, but I can't let my kids play on the playground in the fresh air and sunlight with, at most, perhaps a small bunch of other kids. But all the kids can play together at school. No logic.

As has already been said here, and what I believe to be the case also, it’s not about the kids and the play equipment, it’s about parent standing around in groups while their kids play.

This is true, it’s about the adults hanging around in groups.

Yeah, its driving me nuts. We have no community transmission here. Ive been seeing lots of families having night plays and every day i see adults working out on the play equipment, really pisses me off. We had a sneaky play last weekend. I dont get it at all, the equipment is sanitised everyday with sun, rain and wind, plus it is very possible to go to a playground and be the only family there, so i say OPEN THE PLAYGROUNDS!!

**Anyone from over East should not comment on this question, people over there cant understand our situation over here.

Not according to Mark Mcgowen and the WA Health minister, check your facts. We dont have a back yard, we live in an apartment.

You could be the only family at the playground at THAT time. Then half an hour after you’ve left another family comes with their asymptomatic child. They leave, then half an hour later another family come thinking “ oh we are the only ones that use this playground”. 🙄🙄. Before you know it the virus has spread to other children who take it back to school and loved ones. Do you not get it? We are trying to be safe for everyone. It won’t be much longer. Why can’t you do another activity with your kids? Why do they HAVE to have a public playground. They play on the school playground 5 days a week, I’m sure they can go without it on the weekend. I know it’s such a low risk, but isn’t it better to be safe than sorry?

I’m from WA and I think you guys need to calm down. I have three young children and I don’t have a backyard. It is what it is, I trust the experts who are actually experts. I’m sure they are not just being difficult for the sake of it. Mid June is nothing.
