My rules on piercings are when they can care for it, and nothing permanent. So Id be fine with it I think.

Sure why not? Its not permanent. Its ears. If he doesn't like, he can take them out.

I have to say I am appalled that in 2020 there is so much judgement for an 8year old boy getting an ear pierced. Really he isn't getting his face tattooed it is a piercing

My son is 16 and has had his ear pierced since he was 5 when he asked for it. It is a non issue for us

Look, the reality is, he will be judged. Do you want to expose him to that at such an early age?

It absolutely is reality. We can say it’s 2020, we shouldn’t judge, everyone us beautiful from the inside and out, reach acceptance, etc. BUT the reality is, you see a child with piercings, the majority of people will think negatively and will judge the child and it’s parents. It’s how we are programmed

I live in quite a nice area and there isn’t a single young boy that I’ve seen that has his ears pierced in the school my son goes to nor in the area, it’s not really the norm here but then again I’m right in the city so maybe it’s different the further you go out? I personally think it’s bogan.

My 8 year old has had his ear pierced for about 3 years now. I kind of just let them go with stuff like that. I'm covered in piercings and tattoos so I feel like I can't really say no haha. Obviously age appropriate, I wouldn't let my 8 year old get a tattoo or his nose pierced or anything like that. But 13 and wants more piercings? Yeah sure. 17 and wants a tattoo? Ok, let's go. Just make sure it's not stupid lol.

I told my daughter she can choose in high school. Just choose an age you’re comfortable with and stick to it.

I think thats fine if that what he wants and your ok with it. If he were a girl you’d probably allow it, so being a boy shouldnt be enough reason to disallow it. If he changes his mind in the future the holes will close, its not a permanent decision.

Tell him he can get his ears pierced when he gets his first job or car license- which ever age you find more appropriate
