How do you repair bad credit?

My husband and I have a newborn so want to find our forever home. We recently applied for a home loan and got rejected due to his defaults on payments on his personal loan.
Apart from ensuring he makes payments on time is there anything we can do to clean his credit?

Not really. The same thing happened with my husband. You just have to make sure he does the right thing for a long long time. We're still trying to repair it but i think we're on the upswing now.
