Answered 4 years ago

I am curious in today's day of age a lot of women choosing to keep their maiden name, what about after they have children father's surname or mothers?

Their fathers. But were married so it's both of our names.

Both our girls have their Dad's last name.
Our eldest was born out of marriage, our youngest after but I still have my maiden name.

Call me old fashioned but I think every child should have their fathers last name.

Interesting! Personally I do think it's very old fashioned. Just curious, do you mind saying why you think kids should have the father's surname?

Replying to the non weird question.

I think it's more traditional than anything else. I have my Dad's, my Husband has his Dad's last name, both of us born in the early 80's when children out of wedlock weren't as socially excepted as they are today. My Husband's parents are still married, my Mum was widowed so I suppose we aren't children of divorce so to speak?

My children have my last name. I offered my daughter’s father a double barrel name if he stuck around for a year but he didn’t. My other children’s father and I couldn’t do that, if you put our last names together it would have been a recipe for bullying

Both. My kids don't have a middle name and have both our surnames. There was no way they weren't going to have my surname.

Their fathers.
We are no longer together and I have never thought about changing it to include mine.

We all have my husbands last name.
When we got married I was very happy to take my husbands name (my maiden name was connected to some less savoury relatives in my hometown). And I'm more than happy to not paint my children with the same brush I was growing up, should we ever go back there.
