Scared to quit my job

Answered 3 years ago

I work part time and have been in the same role 10+ years. I am overworked and underpaid. I work for a small close knit company and am currently covering not only my own job but someone elses job who has taken sudden leave. My workload atm is horrendous. I find i am working extra days that i’m not paid for just to try and catch up. How can i go about leaving without feeling like an a hole? I need to leave for my own mental wellbeing. I’m severely stressed and down. How do i leave in the right way without pi$$ing everyone off?

Don't feel bad when i worked for small family run businesses I was completely taken advantage of, poor pay, stolen super, working unpaid hours, made to feel bad for taking sick days. Screw them, put yourself first. They'll keep milking you until there's nothing left to give.

Don’t ever feel bad when quitting a job especially when they treat you like that.
I quit my job last year after being treated like absolute crap for far too long. It was the best thing I ever did.

Why thiink you're an a*hole for leaving a terrible job situation? Either they don't know, in which case tell them & give a chance to rectify it, or they think you'll never leave so they can treat you however they like.

They'll sack you quick as if it's convenient for them. Your role is to look out for yourself. Move on if you think it won't change. It's a job.
