Are you doing it tough this Christmas?

Why? Drought? Job loss? Medical issues? Gambling addiction? Victim of crime? Wasted money on cigarettes, drugs and alcohol? Went crazy with credit for shit you didn't need and now you no money left for basics?
For us my husband had a medical issue that meant he was unable to work for 3 months. He is fit now but the site has been shutdown until mid January. We have no savings left and only buying the bare necessities. My casual work is just covering our rent. We volunteer at our local food bank inexchange for food. Feel bad just taking it. Walk everywhere to try and stretch a tank of fuel. No presents this year. Waiting until Christmas food is on sale after the day to celebrate a delayed Christmas

Similar to you with husband but it's been 6 years. A bit better than last year because I had extra work but in about 2 weeks I won't have any money left until February when work resumes. So sick of living with financial stress, it sucks the life and happiness out of you.

I’m on the backend of three years of hell..hubby gambled everything and some. It’s been so rocky, we have three young kids and he tries and works hard but gets easily frustrated. Our kids are being very demanding and it’s so stressful.. I’m sure they get it all from us. I’m putting on weight fast and I just don’t care, yet am fearful of the healTh concerns of the future too. We can cover Christmas but I don’t feel safe at all, life is so difficult in other ways. Thank you for asking and for sharing. Sadly I wouldn’t and don’t share this with anyone. Although hubby is in different work now and I control finances I know how quickly the rug can be pulled out , it’s horrible...it’s hard to know who to blame for what

Just two weeks ago I left the emotional and financial abusive marriage of 12 years.. Now I am in my own rental house, building my own life for the first time since the marriage.. But, I feel so lost. Have I done a mistake by leaving it..? Feel like, I am alone now..No one in my life. And I will be all alone in the Christmas.

Trust me you did the right thing! I also will be alone this Christmas (kids will be with their dad). You are a strong woman! Make the things you like to eat on Christmas and celebrate how strong you are for leaving what you have known for 12 yrs for the unknown!
I myself are making the spiciest food and having that with a cold glass if wine! I left a emotional abusive and controlling cheater to make a better life.

No we're doing very well this year, hubby and I both got promotions. So we're doing what we can to help those who need it.

Yes in the sense that I have paid all most of my bills on time and bought my Christmas presents months ago. So yes Christmas will be fine.
But I have upcoming things to pay for and organise where I need about $2-3000 and need to be off work without pay as I have no such leave etc and I'm stressing over that.

We're meant to be doing fine. We have money in savings. But according to my husband, we're so poor he can't afford a Christmas present, and I won't be getting the jewellery I asked for. But he's got tattoo money. So thats all that matters. Bastard.
