Do you think ScoMo is a dickhead ?

Answered 4 years ago

Prime Minister Scott Morrison will cut a Hawaiian family holiday short, saying he "deeply regrets" any offence caused by his decision to take leave as bushfires burned across Australia.

Scott Morrison said the leave had been arranged "some time ago"
Some Labor politicians criticised the leave, but Mr Morrison's Coalition colleagues insisted it was appropriate

The holiday was with his family in Hawaii
He had received criticism from both the public and Labor politicians over his holiday, but following the deaths of two volunteer firefighters in New South Wales he announced he would return as soon as could be arranged.

His office told the ABC he would be flying into Sydney tomorrow.

"I deeply regret any offence caused to any of the many Australians affected by the terrible bushfires by my taking leave with family at this time," he said in a statement.

He knew what was happening before he left. He chose to leave the country he claims to love enough to want to run. He should be here! He was able to move his holiday to accomodate him travelling overseas in January, he could have postponed to be here to support his own damn country! It’s not about him having a family holiday, it’s the fact that as the head of our country he should never have left knowing what we were facing. No excuses. He put his hand up for this job. The public didn’t tell him to put himself into the running, that was on him. So it’s up to him to make sacrifices to be there when we really need him.
He may not be holding a hose but there are many ways he can try and help, he can be organising crisis meetings, supporting the victims, arranging extra resources for our firefighters, hell he can even visit the fire stations! How about meeting the families of the people who have been lost! Anything is better then sitting back relaxing!
And as for his ‘statement’.. where was the compassion? Where was the mention of those who have lost their lives, their homes? He isn’t sorry for leaving, he’s only sorry that Australia is pissed off with him.
He can have a holiday any other time of the year, we needed our leader to be here and he left. If it’s good enough to change to suit other countries, it’s good enough to postpone to support your own country!

He's meant to be the leader of our country he should fucking act like it. The country is in crisis, it needs someone strong to make, uplifting speeches, visit the firefighters- make them feel proud & like they're doing something of value when they're feeling weary, visit the victims- let them know Australia is with them. This is what a great leader would do. Instead he's just having a fucking whinge because he's Hawaiian holidays been cut short. He obviously hates his job & should give it to someone who will do it better than him. Even Tony Abbott (who i didn't love) is out fighting fires & pitching in - not sitting on the sidelines like a fucking north shore princess.

The job he desperately wanted requires a lot of responsibility and accountability. I totally agree that he should not have checked out to go on a holiday while there is a crisis!
A facility manager of a nursing home has to return from holidays if there is crisis (at least ours does

Hit reply oops, the point is, you are entitled to a break at an appropriate time. This is not appropriate.
His wife and children should be free to enjoy themselves but he wanted to be in this powerful position so now he has to commit

It's politics. They spend more of their time attacking each other to try & improve their power position than doing anything useful. I've lost more respect for him caving to pressure & abandoning his family's holiday than for going. There's always something going on & the deputy (who'll probably be our PM next week anyway) steps up to the position so there's always a prime minister in the country.
