Working from home - keep getting called on my days off

Answered 4 years ago

I work part time, have small children and trying to home school. This whole week, every day i’ve had off my work keep calling me asking me if i can do some work and or questions. I’m starting to get pi$$ed off. I have enough on my plate right now and don’t want to be worrying about work all the time. Is this appropriate?

My husband has fridays off and is always getting called. If it’s the boss he’ll answer but if it’s clients or colleagues he lets it go to voicemail saying it’s his day off and to call the office.

I dont know, it depends on the terms of your contract. My husband’s work phone rings constantly when he is off duty and not getting paid. Just the way it is, and yeah it’s annoying and disruptive sometimes.

If you aren't getting paid definitely don't do extra work. Send them an email stating you will not be answering your phone on your days off, even for 'just one quick question'. Stick to your guns, and it shouldn't take long for them to realise you are serious and to stop contacting you.
