This was one of my favourite names, but i guess I grew out of it and my husband also wasn't a fan. I could imagine calling him Kai, but he would probably be a Mal.

I don't like it. To me it sounds like the name of someone who'd be in a gang. Which I know is silly, but that's what popped into my head.

"No hate, only honest opinions?" What if my honest opinion is that I hate it?

Nah I don't mind Malachi as a name but it IS a bit bogan. Especially the way you've spelled it, makes it seem even more so. Like Feebi or Mickayla. Bogans figure their friends won't know how to pronounce something with tricky spelling like Michaela or Phoebe. That or they don't actually know how to spell it themselves.

No I don’t personally like it. It’s a bit out there but each to his own. Names always grow on you and if you love it don’t be swayed by my opinion or anyone else’s!

I see lots of little Maori and Islander boys with that name. I like it. It's a biblical name (always popular in my house), it's got a slight musical lilt to it. And even though it's pretty popular, I really like it.

My boy is Malakai, his father was adamant on Malachy (mala-key) and I wanted kai so we compromised on Malakai.
This was 24 years ago. Bit to popular for my liking now still a nice name , kai-kai was his nick name when he was younger, kai as he got older then uses Malakai more so as a man I liked how the name progressed and grew with him.
