Kids who scooter and bmx

Answered 5 years ago

If ur kids are always at the skate park doing tricks on scooters and bikes, what is a "good" brand to buy and why and price range? We watched a Kmart bike front Tyre completely crumple this afternoon during a stunt, injuring the kid. I think it's time to spend a bit more for better quality and a weeny bit more safety.

Spend as much on the helmet ! My friends kid wasn’t wearing the strap tight enough and is in hospital

That probably had more to do with assembly than the actual bike, a bolt would have had to be loose for that to happen

It was a worry either way. The entire front wheel was bent pretty much in half. The kid was about 12 but cried when he saw how bad the bike was damaged. I felt so sad for the kid.

My kids are teenagers and pretty solid, I wouldn't want one knocking his face into a concrete park cos they tried some stupid trick and the wheel gave in 😱

Oh I thought you meant the wheel fell off, that is not from assembly then! I hope they took it back that is really unsafe.

Go to a specialist bike shop. In my experience, quite often the owners are into biking themselves and will have a good knowledge base to help you pick out a good bike for your kids needs.

Yeah, my son has $600 Giant and there was something that went really wrong with that (front forks, or front wheel almost came off). Luckily hubby happened to notice it or it could have been really dangerous. Son not happy coz he couldn't use his bike the rest of the camping trip - it required a replacement part
