I sobbed my sister in to Centrelink, do you think they're doing anything about it?
Answered 2 years ago
I recently found out that my sister has been claiming single parent from Centrelink for 10 years, although she's probably been single for about a total of 1 year in that time (on and off between live-in boyfriends).
She's also falsely declared her income for the last 4 years and hasn't done her tax returns so they didn't find out. Not sure how she expected that to work long-term.
I dobbed her in on the Centrelink "dob in a welfare cheat" thing online a couple of months but haven't heard anything.
Do you think they're working on it and will only contact her when they have a solid case together?

I'm glad you dobbed her in, I hear about too many people rorting the system and I'm sick of it. They need to be dealt with. Especially with the people doing the right thing and get nothing!

Unless the government come looking for you, you can. Iβm sure my brother hasnβt done a tax return in years.

It's incredibly difficult to prove she was frauding single parent pension for that entire time but she'll definitely get done for under declaring her wages. I reported my wages as net instead of gross for 5 years and ended up with a 20,000 debt. Theyll get her for that really soon.

Thanks for your answer. I agree there's no real PROOF for a lot of the time she was in relationships apart from witness statements. Any idea how they'll get her for underdeclaring if she hasn't done a tax return?

She has to do them eventually or she'll be investigated anyway and her payments will be cut.
