Does anyone feel freaked out about sleeping on hotel beds?

Answered 1 year ago

I never used to worry about this, but as I have gotten older, I can't help but think of all the unknown strangers putting their head down on the same pillows, the same sheets, the towels (yes, I know they get washed, but still), and I also wonder, the main cover/heavy bedspread hotels use on the beds, I bet they don't wash those every single time someone checks out? They would just change the sheets, then put it back on surely. Am I the only one who thinks of this stuff??

I try and guess how many people have had sex on that bed. Then I go on to think of how many prostitutes have been there. Then I wonder about how many diseases. Then I wonder about the cleaners and how good they are. Do they do a good job? Or do they really hate their job and don't do it properly? Then I can't sleep.

Do you wipe seats in restaurant or fast food places?
Bet you don’t use public transport
Do you bring your own cutlery etc to restaurant?
Do you wipe public loo and seats ?
Do you wash your hands with sanitiser in public ?

ANSWER

So when you go to restaurants do you ever think how many mouths the fork you are eating off has been in? Or how many lips have been on the cup you are drinking out of? I think one of the dirtiest/grossest things to come in contact with is a shopping trolly handle or the bottom of your handbag......

I always take the doona off the bed, which probably makes no difference, still feel contaminated! I know they don't wash the big blankets between uses unless they are filthy!
My dad stayed in a place where there were pubes in the sheets and they refused to refund him when he complained! Rankkkkkk

I am in a hotel right now in Germany. However I have a phobia of hotel beds I don’t care how clean it is I will never ever put the covers over me, knowing that 100 thousands people stayed in this bed I take my own blankets with me.

Another that has worked in 2 motels, different styles but one only uses disinfectant to wipe over cups, spoons ect. The doona only gets washed between guests if there's a noticeable "stain" - including cover. It's gross, always take my own pillows and blankets and i always check over the room, if certain things haven't been done properly you can tell their standards! Also never know when they have a had a full booking day and things have been rushed or a lazy worker, I know I have seen it myself!

I actually get anxiety over sleeping in hotel beds. The closer it gets to bed time the sicker I start to feel. I will be so tired but will think of any excuse not to get into that bed until I really have to. Once there I will leave my clothes on. Not even being able to change into pj's. I will never get under the blankets. I desperately try to sleep with my head on my arm so it doesn't touch the pillow and may be lucky to drift in and out of sleep but the truth is my mind is programmed to get the helll out of there asap! So I find myself checking continusly for when the sun comes up and as soon as it does I'm out! My holidays are spoilt 'coz of this always. If we go by car it's all Good coz I take my own bedding and an inflatable mattress which I set up. These times I sleep like a baby. But when we fly I start getting anxious days before we leave knowing what lies ahead. Tonight I couldn't stand it as I'm on holiday now. I was ready to get out of the bed at 2am but forced myself to stay there till 4am. This time I had the itchyness to contend with too. This phobia is getting worse for me and people just laugh 'coz they just don't get how awful it is.

I never use the big bedspreads.
And when I leave I strip the beds of everything and dump it all in a pile so they are forced to put fresh stuff on.

Aaah, the filth that goes on in hotel rooms!! My hubby and I get really freaky and we do stuff we'd never do at home..I let him cum anywhere he wants, because I don't have to clean it. Once we were having sex standing up looking out the window, and he pulled out and sprayed everywhere. It went all over the Windows al we wiped it off with the curtain, LOL

What's grosses me out even more, the swimming pools. How many people have peed or blown their nose or spat in the water.

With teiple sheeying everything bar the doona get changed. The doona has a protective slip on it and with triple sheetimg you shouldn't touch it anyway. Pillows always have protective covers under the pillow cases. Its the spare blankets in the cupboards that i worry about and i work housekeeping. We try and wash them everytime they are used but some guests will fold it up and put it back in before we strip and clean a room

What is triple sheeting?

REPLY
Triple sheeting is when your bed is made with a flat sheet on the bottom all tucked in. Then a second sheet goes on then doona then a third sheet. The second and third sheet are folded over and under the top of the doona then tucked in all tight. So when you hop in you pull back the second sheet and no part of the doona touches you only the sheets

This won't help but last time we stayed in a hotel, I was straightening up the room after our first night and a pair of panties (not ours) fell out of the covers. I lost my mind all over some poor housekeeping manager. I was so freaked out! We moved rooms, after i supervised the cleaning of our new upgraded suite. They comped our stay, another week anytime and gave us $500 in local vouchers for food and shops.

That was my issue. I slept in a dirty bed which meant my room was not cleaned between guests becasue someone got lazy. I was not taking any chances that it was just one room effected.

I have worked in 2 hotels, neither changed the main cover between every guest, I assume this is common practise, as for sheets, towels ect both places I worked did these differently, 1 sent all linen off site to be washed and pressed, the other did their own, regardless of where it is done the amount of heat used in washing and pressing is enough to kill nasties.

I wondered the sane about the bedspread. Sheets and pillow cases I'm fine with as I know they're washed, but people lie on top of the bed, to watch tv, read a book, have sex.

And worst of all, put their luggage on it! Suitcases and bags that have been dragged all over all the place outside, and then they put it on the bed :-/

Bed bugs freak me. They do exist. When u feel itchy it's them. 😖

Lol the classier hotels certainly does not mean the housekeeping is any better.
My friend found a small bag of white powder in the foot of her bed between the top sheet and the duvea there lol

This is why the best hotels either double sheet a blanket as a duvea or change the everything completely.

You'd be surprised how dirty things are, but admittedly most motels I've stayed in are quiet clean as I'm now really fussy with where I stay. I refuse to use cups, plates or glasses etc that are in the room! Disgusting! And especially refuse to use spas even if they've been "sonically cleaned".
Bit of a story to freak you right out, my mother went to Brisbane about 3 weeks ago and stayed in a motel down there. She ended up with body lice from the bed!
