What age would you let your daughters boyfriend sleepover?

Answered 11 days ago

My 16yr old daughter keeps asking if her nearly 17yr old boyfriend (of 9months) can either stay the night on the lounge, or in her room.
I’m struggling with this - I keep saying no but am I being unrealistic and not keeping up with what is acceptable today??

If they want to have sex they will find a way. Best thing you can do is ensure it is safe. By either a contraception you monitor or enforce such as implant or jab. But speak with them about what you expect. I’d start with on the couch definitely. Speaking from experience of a fellow 16 y/o teen mum who wished my mother would have got me on contraception that I was not in control of as the pill gets forgotten and 16 year olds are idiots

Tbh I think if they want to have sex, they will find a way of doing it whatever you do. Better to let him stay over and them do it in a safe enviroment.

I feel that you might well have the answer in your question... a middle way is to let him stay over in the lounge. Win-win, surely? Shows you like him, trust them and respect her (in my book, anyway)
