The Rockefeller Family:

The Rockefeller Family’s wealth started with John D. Rockefeller, founder of Standard Oil. The company was founded in the 1870’s and grew to be the top player in the oil refining industry in the US. It was not long enough before John Rockefeller became the country’s first billionaire. David Rockefeller, the remaining grandson of John Rockefeller, was named as the world’s oldest billionaire before he died at the age of 101.

According to an article by Forbes, David was worth around $3.3 billion and was the 604th richest among billionaires.

The Rothchild Family was considered the richest family in the world in the 1800’s.  They originated from Frankfurt and established multiple financial institutions.  The founding Rothchild was Mayer Amschel Rothschild who established his banking business in the 1760’s.  Mayer had five sons who established the banking business in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Vienna and Naples.

Today, they have interests in finance, mining, wine, energy and farming.  The family is very private and many conspiracy theories surround them and their wealth. As they kept all the banks within the family, this enabled them to be secretive about their true wealth.

Many of the Du Pont Family Mansions (there is more than one!) are now open to the public as museums, formal gardens or parks. The Du Ponts have French originals and are descended from Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours who was the son of a prominent French Watchmaker.  The Du Pont’s are known for their reverie for preservation of historical buildings and places.

The Du Pont’s are related to the Astor Family, the Rockefeller Family, the Roosevelt Family and the Vanderbilt Family.
