Get Luscious Lips with Lip Scrubs

I wanted to start this article with the words, winter is upon us“¦’ but in reality, I suffer from dry cracked lips all year round if I dont put in an effort to look after them.

I have a couple of go-to products that sort dryness out pretty quickly, and a good lip scrub is one of them!

Because after all, even the sexiest lip colour loses its appeal on dry cracked lips”¦

Scrub, Scrub, Scrub!

Exfoliation is key to removing dry skin and to create the perfect base! A good one will also hydrate or soothe. Now, there are some amazing lip scrubs on the market and you will always find a collection of them in my bathroom. But, it’s also really easy to make your own.

DIY or Shop Bought? Either way…

A sugar-based lip scrub is a great project for tweens and tweens too. Theyre easy to make and all-natural so you can feel satisfied with the knowledge that if they happen to lick it all off and eat more than they scrub, all will still be well in the world!

TIP: Balmy Nights! Invest in a good balm for hydration, moisture and protection after you exfoliate too!

DIY Lip Scrub Basics

I tend to stick with a basic mix of sugar, oil and food-grade essential oils to create a lip scrub. But you can also add colouring if you want. The Sugar is a natural alpha hydroxyl acid and sends messages to your skin cells telling them to regenerate, so its a great base for any kind of scrub, sea salt is also a great option but will sting any cuts if your lips are so dry theyve cracked.

In terms of oil there are so many to choose from; olive, avocado, macadamia nut, coconut oil, fractionated coconut oil, almond oil or grapeseed oil.

Use good quality, food-grade essential oils to create luxe lip scrubs.

Youll also need a little container to store the scrub in.  Dont make too much at once, best to create a new batch more often, it’s quick and easy to make anyway.

You can just create a mix of olive oil and sugar as a basic lip scrub, but it’s nice to add some essential oils to the concoction.

Heres a couple of my favourites, my kids love them too! I tend to use avocado oil or DoTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil. My daughter loves using olive oil too.

You can swap out the essential oils for any scent that takes you fancy! You can also add a couple of drops of food colour to make it look pretty.

Here are some lip scrubs to keep your kissers lush and lovely!
