The 60’s heralded in the time of the turbo tits! Yes boobs were sharp enough to commit manslaughter in fashion and swimwear was no exception. Designers started targeting the younger generation in their designs. The modesty apron that was seen in previous eras was now gone and skin was in.

From the 70’s on, swimwear became pretty much what it is today. Though I’m pretty sure this was the decade of the crocheted bikini. All handmade and natural baby! Fabric was comfortable and moved with your body. Lycra ruled the world. Sure the 80’s and 90’s seen leg lines raised to dizzy heights and the side boob was all the rage, but all in all it’s the minor details we look at now. Recent fashions have seen flashbacks to the 20’s and 40’s style with modern updates on them.

With the freedom and choice we have now, really there is NO excuse not to get out there and enjoy your piece of paradise. Own your choices and be confident in who you are. Don’t forget though slip slop slap, because it doesn’t matter how cute your little cozzie is red blistering skin is never in fashion!

What is your favourite era for swimwear?

Would you rock the sh*t out of it at the beach or poolside today?
