1. What is a Champagne Breakfast?

A champagne breakfast is a decadent spread of fancy breakfast food, together with a delicious glass of cold champagne.  It’s the perfect Christmas Celebration meal for families when you have to visit multiple relatives in a day (except for the champagne bit, lol).

Champagne breakfasts usually consist of pastries, fresh fruits, bacon and eggs, muffins, waffles and most importantly, champagne.

2. What Time Do You Serve a Champagne Breakfast?

A champagne breakfast is traditionally served morning to mid-morning (like a brunch).  This allows enough time for your visitors to arrive and to have everything ready.  A champagne breakfast is likened to a fancy hotel breakfast – a vast choice of foods that you wouldn’t typically have – special foods!

3. Choosing a Menu for a Champagne Breakfast

Choosing your menu can be tricky because there are so many delicious breakfast foods! Because a Champagne Breakfast is a celebration – you want to be generous on servings.

Allow at least one serving of each dish – per person.

Choose at least:

  • Three drinks per person (two alcoholic drinks for adults)
  • Three cold foods per person
  • Four hot food items per person

Any leftovers can be recycled to be lunch and dinner (it’s Christmas – everyone always over-caters!).

Go through all our ideas for foods below, and choose your dishes accordingly.

4. What Type of Drinks Do Your Serve at a Champagne Breakfast?

Any sparkling white wine that you enjoy!  If you have a lot of visitors, have a selection of both dry and sweet champagnes or sparkling wines.  Even Prosecco is a great choice! We have a list below of the most popular champagnes for champagne breakfasts if you get stuck.

If you are celebrating a significant milestone – you could even consider making a signature drink to serve at breakfast.

As well as the alcohol, have a range of tea and coffee, and a selection of juices.

It’s always easier to just set up a kettle with tea and coffee etc., all laid out so everyone can make their favourite cup their way.

5. What Champagne Should I Serve at a Champagne Breakfast?

Champagne should always be the best you can afford (and if you are on a budget – go to the Prosecco). The best idea is to buy a case of champagne online and get it delivered – many of the online stockists such as Dan Murphy’s can get you a much better deal!

The best champagnes for a Champagne Breakfast include:
