5 Smart Tips to Stay Sane During the Holidays

3. Unexpected Guests

Nothing worse than someone rocking up uninvited, or being invited and not letting you know they are coming with their 4 kids and their wife’s mother’s cousin and his girlfriend.

But Christmas is all about the love…

So, the best advice here is to pull out the dodgy camping chairs and make the kids sit on the grass for lunch.

Doing presents? Shove that dodgy bottle of plonk you got from the work Christmas do in a festive bag or stick a bow on that sucker and re-gift! Cost-effective and thoughtful!

Worried you might not have enough food? Bust out the packets of chips and dips. Usually on hand for pre-Christmas and Boxing Day drinks, these babies will have your guests half full before you even start.

Don’t stress, you can just send hubby down to the shops first thing tomorrow with a heinous hangover to brave the crowds and grab some more!

4. The Heat

Ah, Christmas in Australia is all about the heat. And the flies. And the mozzies once the sun starts going down. Cranking up the air con is usually futile, as you have every Tom, Dick and Harry coming in and out the house in an attempt to use the toilet/bottle opener/fridge and check on the progress of the food, and fans usually just push the hot, sticky air around.

Our tip? If you have a pool, use it. If you have a friend or relative with a pool, invite yourself around. If you have a bath, or a hose, or a spray bottle filled with the wet stuff, use that!

Or invest in an industrial cooling unit and install it in your kitchen! Start buying Aeroguard now and filter it through your water supply so you have that shit coming out your pores when those insanely huge bugs start coming out, using your face as a landing strip and your food as their germ depository.
