Christmas is a stressful and frenzied time for Stay at Home Parents. Sometimes because of all this stress it doesn’t make this time of year particularly relaxing. But this year – we are going to be organised, we are NOT going to be stressed, we are NOT going into debt to do it!! So now’s the time to start planning – yes RIGHT NOW!. Let’s focus on the kids, family and friends and lets have fun!!!
Slowing down and realising what Christmas is really all about will make this time of year extra special. Lets bring back that wonderment we found as children!
Here are some ideas on how to achieve it!
Remember as a kid the smell of fresh pine needles when you came into the lounge room?? Yes they are messy – but it’s Christmas. Invest in a real tree. If you buy one in a pot – you can use it for Christmas, then either plant it or keep it outside until next year. You don’t even have to use a pine tree – maybe choose something uniquely Australian – a Bottlebrush would be just beautiful with the red blossoms!
Carols by Candelight:
No matter how small your town is – guaranteed there will be a Carols by Candelight somewhere nearby! It doesn’t matter if you can’t sing – take along a candle or torch, a blanket and some chairs and get into the festivity of the season. The kids will love singing along with Frosty the Snowman…..
Sit down with the kids and make an advent calander – pop a little treat behind every door!
Better still make something for someone less fortunate. Christmas time is tough for a lot of families and any little treats would be very appreciated. Maybe go through you cupboard with the kids and see what else you may be able to donate.
Even better – give the gift of sponsoring a child or helping a woman feed her family in a Third World Country! There are many wonderful organisations out there that truly make a difference.
Here are some of them:
If you know of a wonderful organisation that really helps others – let me know and I’ll add them to the list.
