Good evening Mums! Hope you all got something out of my goal setting article last week. Maybe you have even set yourself some targets to work towards over the next few weeks. Mental focus to work towards a clear goal is such a great motivator.

So now you have been eating clean and fitting in some light exercise. You’re starting to feel really good about yourself and your now on the right track to achieving your health and fitness goals. However…. some of us have family and friends that don’t always share or understand your healthy-eating habits. They can make it tough to stay on track by (either accidently or sometimes purposely) tempting us with bad food/drinks and making negative comments or suggestions. What to do?

You cant avoid all temptation and lock yourself away in your bedroom. You need to look for options that keep everyone happy. If your partner loves pizza, try making your own Pita Pizza thats heavy on the veggies and light on the cheese and processed meat —then serve it with a side salad and green tea instead of garlic bread and soft drink. Next girls night out, suggest a restaurant that’s got lots of healthy options and have a glass of red or vodka lime soda instead of a sugar filled pre-mix or mega calorie cocktail, and if you get together with the Mums from school instead of Friday baked-goods day, suggest a Friday “make it healthy” day, and swap in baked pears with cinnamon or protein brownies.

Your friends and family will hopefully support and even encourage your healthy choices if it is creative and a little yummy too! Making healthy long term changes in your daily activities will enable you to achieve your personal goals and still enjoy a happy social lifestyle.
