So this is my life.
So it’s the school holidays at the moment. Masters 14 and 16 are too old to be seen doing things with mum apparently. (Oh the look on M14’s face when I ran across him in town one day when he was talking a girl!) So the younger 4 have had to bear the brunt of my holiday enthusiasm.
On the hunt for cheep and cheerful holiday activities a got my local papers and started searching the internet. The excitement on my part was short lived after I was told all the bookings for the free activities opened 3 weeks prior and were full. Time to pull out plan B…as soon as I figured out what plan B was.
We live in a very small town about 40 mins from a larger town. They still had space in their free activities! Right we can do this I thought. We can have breakfast, showers, chores done and be out the door by 8.20am to make it to said activities. So far the closest we have made it to being on time in 20 mins late. Oh well the kids are still having fun.
School holidays really can be fun times though. Most local libraries run free programs. Most shopping centres have shows on and if you add a 50c ice-cream to it the kids love it. We have done a baking day with each child choosing a recipe to cook. How about a scavenger hunt around the park? I did a treasure hunt last holidays that led the kids to all their friends’ places where the other parents handed over the clues. It finished in the park where I had a picnic waiting.
On that note I really have to run. The potatoes are burning, miss 2 just pulled miss 12’s hair and the teenagers seem to have multiplied.
