I am at the point of my life where I need to multi-task during trips to the bathroom.
I feel like every single minute of my life should be utilised fully. For example, if I’m going to go to the kitchen to fetch a glass of water, I should be able to take everything else that I need from the kitchen so that I wouldn’t have to make a second trip.
Fetching the mail and taking out the rubbish should be perfectly timed to avoid wasting time. And everyone must be nagged to death to keep the house tidy. Oh what a wonderful life to be living!
So we thought of all the little things that make our lives as a mum a little bit easier. Do you spend, like, 30 minutes looking all over the house for a spare battery? Or does it frustrate you if Legos and colouring pencils are scattered all over the floor, being a security threat in the process? Or do you always have to spend time looking for correct flip flop pairs? Well, we think there’s no need for us to suffer. Here are pretty basic but brilliant life hacks for busy mums!
1. An organising caddy for your batteries
Have all your batteries in the one place – no more searching the house for them! Grab an organising caddy from the local hardware store or cheap shop – they make sorting your batteries easy – and it keeps them all in one place!
2. Old spice jars for cake decorating stuff
Keep your cake decorating knick knacks in old spice jars!
3. A neat wrapping paper organisation station
Keep your wrapping paper wrinkle free and always ready to go! Use a couple of hooks and some dowel to create a wrapping paper organisation station inside a cupboard!
4. A coat hanger for your scarves
Keep your scarves ready to go and neat by tying them onto a coat hanger.
5. Candlestick jars for your cotton balls and pads
Know exactly where your cotton balls and pads are — and make your vanity table even prettier.
6. A Lego table to store Lego blocks
Tired of always stepping on Legos on dark nights? With this huge Lego table, there should be no reason to find blocks on the floor again.
7. Use labelled jars to organise your pantry
Organise your pantry by separating your spices into labelled jars. You can also buy those little chalkboard labels!
8. Lots and lots of cleaning spray? Here’s the solution
If you have every cleaning spray known to mum-kind, I know how it feels to have a cupboard full of these and not find the one spray that you need. The ultimate solution:
9. How to microwave two bowls at once
Don’t have the time to microwave two bowls at once? I know how it feels. But wait, can you actually do it?
10. Use rubber bands to keep doors unlocked
Toddlers who accidentally lock themselves in is a huge problem. Solution? Rubber bands.
11. Use a storage box and poles for small Christmas ornaments
Keep your Christmas ornaments in one place without fear of getting them broken.
12. File organisers for flip flops…
Pair up! Instead of keeping flip flops in the shoe closet, file them in organisers so that they will never lose a pair again.
13. Organize art materials inside the drawers
14. Don’t throw away those plastic bottles just yet!
And if you have plastic bottles lying around, recycle them and turn them into cute containers for art materials.
