Relaxing Homemade Bath Recipes

4 min read

There is nothing quite like sinking into a hot bath at the end of a long day. Candlelight, some gentle music, maybe even a good book? Oh and a glass of wine. Definitely with a large glass of wine. Heavenly.

On top of being a fantastic way to beat stress, drawing a bath can have a myriad of medicinal benefits to help cure what ails you. The addition of a few simple ingredients can transform your bath from a personal oasis to a mini health retreat. Here are some of our favourite, tried and tested bath recipes.

Ginger Detox

  • ¼ cup of grated ginger or 2-3 tablespoons of powdered ginger
  • Good handful of natural salt (optional)

Add ingredients to your bath as it draws and ensure the bath temperature is as warm as you can handle it. Soak for at least forty minutes. Take care to rinse well afterwards to ensure the toxins you’ve drawn out have left your skin.

This little gem is fantastic for when you feel a cold coming on. While fresh ginger does work better, we recommend having a little muslin bag for the grated peels otherwise you run the risk of clogging your drain. Powdered ginger is a fantastic alternative for this recipe. Be aware that this bath will make you sweat! You will feel like you’ve run a marathon, so this is best taken before bed (it may make you feel a little light headed) and remember to drink plenty of water during and after your bath.
