15 Uplifting Things SAHMs Can Do to Meet Friends

If there’s one thing you absolutely shouldn’t tell a SAHM, it’s how you think her life is easy.

For working parents, staying home all day might sound like bliss, but really it’s not! Imagine having no one to talk to but your 8-month old and 3-year old. Imagine watching only kids’ shows… all day. You used to have friends, you used to be fun, you used to have a social life. And now it’s pretty much dead.

There is such a thing as saving your sanity, so here are 15 things SAHMs can do to meet friends. So when it seems like there is no life outside the house, outside your kids, you will get the socialisation and adult interaction you need. If you can relate to this, we hope these tips can help!

1. Join a gym preferably with childcare services.

While you can meet friends when you go to a regular gym, a gym that offers childcare services promises fellow stay-at-home parents as regular gym-goers.

2. Join play dates.

I know it’s easier said than done, but joining play dates is really one of the best ways to meet people. Plus, your kids will meet new friends, too!

3. Volunteer at your community.

It depends on the community you’re at, but in my community, there’s a lot of volunteer work to be done. Ask around!

4. Connect with other mums and dads on Facebook.

If there’s one thing that’s great about being a parent today, it’s social media. Okay, I know it’s not that great, but at least you can search for local communities of mums and dads.

5. Check your newspaper for local events.

These events can range from bake sales to concerts. Whatever floats your boat, try it! You never know who you meet unless you go.
