About Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW)

This Saturday grab the kids, your next-door neighbour, and your Nanna and take them down to your local Fire Station. Meet some Firefighters, explore the fire station and learn how the marvellous teams keep you safe.  FRNSW is one of the world’s largest urban fire and rescue services and is the busiest in Australia! Their overriding purpose is to enhance community safety and the quality of life of residents of New South Wales by minimising the impact of hazards and emergency incidents on our roads and in our environment in New South Wales!

FRNSW currently has more than 6858 Firefighters, approximately 5891 Community Fire Unit Members and 432 Administrative and Trades Staff working together for a safer, confident community. Fire and Rescue NSW has 335 fire stations across NSW. They protect 90% of the State’s population from emergencies involving fire, motor vehicle accidents and other dangerous situations. FRNSW also protect 100% of the State’s population from hazardous materials emergencies and building collapse and provide terrorism consequence management for 100% of the State.

Junior Firefighters ask what it is like to be a Firefighter!
